Ski Trip 2008
The group of five girls, three boys and three leaders left for Aviemore on Wednesday morning. The weather was perfect, calm and freezing!
First stop was Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club for a tour round the stadium, saw Craig Brewster while we were touring! Bowling was next on the programme, where the girls beat the boys! After a spot of lunch we headed for Newtonmore to the Craigower Lodge. In the evening we were fitted for our ski equipment and were set to go in the morning.
Thursday was an early start at 7am! But got to the Cairngorms early to avoid the ques, there was plenty of snow and lovely sunshine. We got to the top of the mountains by the phenicular train, “we were squashed in it like sardines!” The day was spent learning to stand on the skis and manage to stop once you got going! “Zander fell face first over a fence” he hadn’t quite mastered how to stop!! In the evening we went through to Inverness to see “Definitely, Maybe” a romantic comedy. It was so good that Gordon fell asleep through it!
Another early start on Friday at 7am again, the group had impeccable timekeeping. Once we reached the mountains it didn’t take the group long to get back into skiing and by lunchtime the group was whizzing down the mountain! Disaster struck though with Sarah falling in an awkward position from the ski tow resulting in a badly sprained knee. The group managed to get some ski miles under their belts in the afternoon to gain their Level 2 Skiing Award and get them one step closer to the next Olympics!! In the evening the group received their awards from the superb Instructors that taught them how to ski.
S is for Shopping on Saturday! The girls were delighted to get to the shops in Inverness and the boys were looking forward to their “all you can eat” lunch at Jimmy Chungs! The minibus was jam packed leaving Inverness with all the shopping bags, but we made it to Ullapool and across the minch safe and sound!

Lesson 1 - learn to ski on your bum!!

Look out for these professionals in the next Olympics!!

Some of the other activities included a visit to Inverness FC, Bowling and a make over!
